EUM, part of the TWK group, has the following vacancy available: Operations Manager at Pretoria, Gauteng.

Purpose of the Job

 As an Operations Manager, you will oversee the EUM's insurance operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while effectively managing risk. Your responsibilities will include operational and strategic planning for administration, customer service, systems, and operations. Furthermore, your responsibilities will include policy administration, building positive relationships with clients, insurers, and internal stakeholders, and managing the financial side of the operations.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee the procurement and administration of insurance policies
  • Review policy terms and conditions, negotiate coverage options and ensure alignment with organisational needs and risk management strategies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with insurance carriers and negotiate competitive rates and terms
  • Oversee the underwriting process and ensure compliance with all insurance regulations and policies
  • Liaise with insurance carriers to mitigate claims resolution and minimise financial impact
  • Supervise and mentor insurance staff, providing guidance, training and professional development opportunities
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement within EUM
  • Develop insurance budgets, forecasts and financial projections in collaboration with finance and accounting teams
  • Oversee insurance premiums, claims data and loss ratios to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimise insurance spending
  • Serve as clients' primary point of contact regarding insurance inquiries, policy coverage and claims assistance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers and underwriters to enhance customer satisfaction and retention
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including insurance solutions, loss prevention measures and contingency plans
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential exposures and vulnerabilities
  • Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and industry standards governing insurance operations
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal and international insurance regulations, including licensing, reporting and disclosure obligations

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Relevant degree / qualification
  • RE5 and RE1 certificates
  • 5 years' experience in Insurance operations, risk management or a related field
  • 5 years' experience in Team management
  • Experience in underwriting, claims management and Insurance policy administration
  • Experience in operational financial management
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks applicable to the Insurance industry
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good understanding of processes and systems
  • Excellent communication skills
