TWK Agri has the following vacancy available: GIS Technician within the Trade division at Piet Retief, Mpumalanga.

Job Purpose
The GIS Technician will be responsible for daily GIS data collection and management, quality assurance, visualisation, and analysis of agriculture-related vector and raster data, including satellite imagery.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Process, analyse and model GIS data for agricultural applications
• Ensure ongoing quality assurance, maintenance and distribution of spatial data
• Provide support to end-users by generating maps, GIS reports and information products
• Compile and organise GIS data from maps, databases and other sources
• Convert mapping resources and data into usable formats
• Perform quality control on data collection projects
• Handle general enquiries and market GIS products to clients
• Produce high-quality maps for various purposes
• Digitise data from aerial photography and satellite imagery as needed
• Collect field data from farmers to support analysis and decision-making

Qualifications and Skills

• Tertiary qualification in GIS, Geography, Cartography or Surveying
• 1-3 years experience in a similar role
• Proficient in GIS software (ArcGIS or QGIS)
• Bilingual (Afrikaans and English)
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to work independently
• Understanding of farming practices and related aspects
